Blizzard has just released their preview of the Icecrown Citadel RAID instance, which will be launching with Patch 3.3. This comes about a week after they released the Icecrown Citadel 5-man dungeon preview.

Some of the key pieces of information from the preview:

  • “Join the legendary heroes Highlord Tirion Fordring, High Overlord Saurfang, Muradin Bronzebeard, Highlord Darion Mograine, and King Varian Wrynn in an epic battle against the Scourge and their master.”
  • “Icecrown Citadel features 10- and 25-player versions of the RAID dungeon, and each version has 12 encounters. Each encounter can be fought in either normal or Heroic mode, and players can use a new user interface feature to toggle easily between difficulties.”
  • “The rewards in the RAID dungeon start at item level 251 in the normal mode with 10-player encounters, increase to item level 264 in the Heroic mode mode with 10 players and the normal mode with 25-player encounters, and then finally reach item level 277 in the Heroic mode with 25 players.”
  • “…two new forms of abomination in Festergut and Rotface, who currently protect their devious creator, Professor Putricide.”

All across the lands of Northrend, many battles have been fought against the vile Scourge. Countless lives have been lost since the Alliance and Horde first reached the frozen wastes, but the champions of Azeroth continue to march forward. Now Icecrown Citadel, the cornerstone of the Scourge’s power and the home base of the Lich King, is their final target. Tirion Fordring and the Argent Crusade have forged an alliance with Darion Mograine and the Knights of the Ebon Blade to form the Ashen Verdict. The strongest combatants of this coalition, along with the champions of the Alliance and Horde, will lead the charge against the citadel.

This dungeon reveals the culminating story events and battles of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion pack. Join the legendary heroes Highlord Tirion Fordring, High Overlord Saurfang, Muradin Bronzebeard, Highlord Darion Mograine, and King Varian Wrynn in an epic battle against the Scourge and their master. Icecrown Citadel features 10- and 25-player versions of the RAID dungeon, and each version has 12 encounters. Each encounter can be fought in either normal or Heroic mode, and players can use a new user interface feature to toggle easily between difficulties. The rewards in the RAID dungeon start at item level 251 in the normal mode with 10-player encounters, increase to item level 264 in the Heroic mode mode with 10 players and the normal mode with 25-player encounters, and then finally reach item level 277 in the Heroic mode with 25 players.

Grand Entrance of the Citadel

After breaching the fortress, players will face a legion of undead guards directed to repel any invaders. Commanding the defenders is Lord Marrowgar, a monstrosity fused together from the bones of the undead. Supreme Overseer of the Cult of the Damned, Lady Deathwhisper is the next opponent. She bolsters the faith of her followers by promising them the opportunity to give eternal service in undeath.

As they continue their ascent, the Alliance and Horde heroes ultimately end up outside of the citadel where their hatred for one another erupts into a battle for dominance over the Rampart of Skulls. Players will join in battle alongside High Overlord Saurfang on the Orgrim’s Hammer gunship or Muradin Bronzebeard on The Skybreaker in a unique encounter. Each faction will protect its gunship and try to destroy the other one in a back-and-forth battle to see who is truly worthy of facing the Lich King.

The Lich King’s most powerful death knight then stands as the final obstacle for the heroes to enter the upper reaches of the citadel.

The Wings of Icecrown Citadel

After the heroes of the Alliance or Horde defeat the other faction on the gunships and wipe out the creatures near the entrance, players will venture into an area with three separate wings. Here they will face a multitude of terrors that must be vanquished in order to confront the Lich King.

In the Frostwing Halls players will battle alongside the Ashen Verdict and push into the lair of the deadly frost wyrm Sindragosa, who continues to strengthen her brood with the help of Ymirheim’s vrykul. Along the way, the heroes will stumble upon Valithria Dreamwalker, a captured green dragon whom the Scourge is using as a test subject for their own ends….

The Plagueworks contains the most twisted experiments ever produced by the Scourge. In this wing players will face two new forms of abomination in Festergut and Rotface, who currently protect their devious creator, Professor Putricide.

The Crimson Hall contains the leaders of the San’layn, undead blood elves who oversee the Scourge’s operations throughout Azeroth. The blood-princes Valanar, Keleseth, and Taldaram were raised into undeath by the Lich King to avenge themselves while protecting their blood-queen, Lana’thel.

“Mini World of Warcraft Mining Guide  from Valkor’s Gold Making Guide”

So you want to do some mining in World of Warcraft, but don’t know where to go to make a lot of gold? Valkor’s  Gold Making  Guide provides a few tips on how to improve your mining skill and the best World of Warcraft Mining locations. These locations are the places where you can maximize your time and get a good amount of gold in return.

Instead of starting out with World of Warcraft mining locations that provide only a little return, let’s look at some places where you can really bring in the gold from mining. The ore we are going to mine is Thorium. This ore alone sells for a good price at the Auction House (8-10 gold per stack), but one of the added bonuses of mining Thorium is the chance to get an Arcane Crystal. These crystals can sell for 15-18 gold each at the Auction House. They have a pretty good drop rate so you should be able to collect some while mining Thorium.

The three best places to mine Thorium are the Burning Steppes, the Eastern Plaguelands, and Winterspring. I’ve had a good amount of success in the Eastern Plaguelands, but I’m sure it varies from server to server. Now, since these places might be a little crowded, you can head over to Un’Goro and mine Thorium from some veins in that area. It’s not uncommon to make over 50 gold an hour just mining Thorium and Arcane Crystals in these areas.

I hope you’ve found this little World of Warcraft Mining Guide to be helpful. At the very least, you now know where to go to make some easy gold via mining. Make sure you have plenty of room for you mining loot. Nothing worse than only being able to mine only a few stacks of Thorium before heading back to the Auction House to unload. Time is money in World of Warcraft. Being able to bring more loot back to the auction house means more gold in your pocket.

Bungie has said that the future of the co-operative Halo 3: ODST mode Firefight is not set, and that it has every chance of reappearing in future Halo games.

“The number one question these days is whether we’re going to do DLC for ODST and add more Firefight maps. Right now we honestly have no plans to do that because we have another huge game in the works,” community lead Brian Jarrard told Eurogamer during the Penny Arcade Expo.

“I can’t talk too much about Reach specifics, but hopefully the game mode’s going to be received as well we think it will be, and people are going to enjoy it. I don’t think we’ve ever been known to really take things away from each successive release, so I think it’s safe to say that if Firefight gets a lot of traction and people love it, it probably has a good future home in our next title as well.”

We also asked Jarrard, given the Orbital Drop Shock Trooper’s unique characteristics relative to the Master Chief (his shorter jump, different weapon skills and lack of a recharging overshield), whether the developer had considered dropping ODSTs into regular Halo multiplayer and seeing how that played out.

“I think a decision was made pretty much at the beginning that we were not going to touch the competitive multiplayer aspect for this game,” he said. “I’m not aware of any real time spent on injecting ODST into the competitive multiplayer experience.”

Halo 3: ODST is due out for Xbox 360 on 22nd September. Look out for a review around then.

You read that right. In honor of WoW’s 5-year anniversary, in the upcoming Patch 3.2.2, Onyxia will make her triumphant return to the world of Azeroth!

The patch will convert Onyxia’s Lair to a 10- and 25-player dungeon, along with new items whose models match the old-school gear available in the vanilla instance, like Tier 2 helms. Additional rewards include a 310% speed flying mount modeled after Onyxia herself!

As a bonus, anyone who logs in during the 5-year anniversary event in November will get an Onyxia Whelpling pet.

The full announcement after the break!

Onyxia Returns in Patch

Onyxia Returns in Patch

The full announcement reads as follows:

She has lurked in her lair and done battle with the many brave adventurers who travelled to that familiar location over the years. Now, in honor of the World of Warcraft 5-year anniversary, the dreaded brood mother Onyxia is being revamped to make a return to the forefront of Azeroth, as part of our big plans for the upcoming 3.2.2 content patch.

This permanent update to Onyxia will convert the dungeon into 10- and 25-player modes. We will be adding new items to Onyxia’s loot table that have the same model as some of the classic loot from this dungeon, like Tier 2 helms, with stats updated to match the current level of content. There will be a special new item too: a normal drake-sized 310% speed flying mount modeled after Onyxia herself called an Onyxia Broodling. We will also be updating the encounter mechanics to be more fitting for modern raiding, but we can guarantee players will get to experience the frightening horror of deep breaths once again.

Then for a limited time, after the 5-year anniversary event officially begins in November, anybody who logs in will receive an Onyxia Brood Whelpling pet.

We’re very excited to bring this classic encounter back to provide a fun new experience for both new and veteran players. Further details will be available in the near future, and we will be setting up the Public Test Realms soon to help test out this fight along with all the new content we have planned for the patch. Keep an eye on the forums for updates!
